15th Annual Jazz at Chautauqua
Jazz at Chautauqua presents traditional jazz music in a setting that allows audiences to enjoy America's own unique art form in one of the country's most beautiful settings, the historic Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution. The four-day weekend will feature 30 of the best traditional jazz Musicians from all over the United States, playing more than 24 hours of Jazz standards and music from the American Songbook.
Originally established at the Hotel Conneaut in Conneaut Lake Park, Conneaut Lake, PA, by the late jazz impresario Joe Boughton of Meadville, PA, Jazz at Chautauqua celebrates its 15th year in Chautauqua at the historic Athenaeum Hotel. Formerly presented by the the Allegheny Jazz Society, Jazz at Chautauqua is proud to continue the tradition now produced by the Athenaeum Hotel under the sponsorship of Chautauqua Institution.
In the days leading up to Jazz at Chautauqua 2012, the Athenaeum Hotel will host the first ever Traditional Jazz Workshop. The 4-day session ( September 16-20, 2012) will include ensemble workshops, coaching, jam sessions and performance opportunities in student groups and with faculty members.
